  • Robotics Club:

For the fifth year in a row, Shouf National College is glad to extend its partnership with The Little Engineer, bringing to our students a life time education, helping them to catch up with the wheel of technology that has been moving faster every day.

Our robotics club continues to grow every year and include more and more of our young talented minds (starting at the age of 5). Having started our own lab, students can now benefit from kits available within the school, to try to develop their innovative ideas and enhance their robotics and teamwork skills using some of the latest technologies.

And for the third consecutive year, beside our full courses presented to those who have shown high interest and commitment to the robotics technology, we’ve allocated 2 periods during the academic year for classes from KG3 and Grade 6, in order to introduce them to the concept of robotics, help them have a closer look at the future, and expose them to new ideas that could pave their way to successful careers.

  • Genius MAP:

We have extended our partnership with the Genius MAP institution, one of the most advanced programs teaching the Arithmetic Mental Calculations, for the third consecutive year.

In addition to teaching Mental Calculation, our system is boosted with several games that help students develop concentration strategies and cognitive skills. Many of our activities involve developing motor skills, three-dimensional perception and kinetic synergy as well.

Our students have represented us in several regional and national competitions, and they have proven to be some of the best in Lebanon after they have won the first five places in last year’s national competition among several age and level-based groups.

* Kindly note that both activities are offered to all students from the Shouf region, with minimal cost to cover the expenses, as advised by Dr. Akram Himadeh.

Culinary Art

Culinary art education is one of the most essential professions in any society, so it is necessary for practitioners of this profession to achieve valuable goals. One of the most important goals of the teacher is the delivery of correct and accurate information to his/her students to help them achieve satisfactory results, and provide them with the largest amount of information that becomes part of their daily life. From this stand point, the culinary profession is one of the basic professions that broadens students’ horizons on food culture and knowledge of ways to prepare it. During the culinary art class, the students learn the basic foundation of healthy cooking, basic food compounds and the art of decoration. In addition to preparing new and delicious dishes, the students acquire the art of etiquette in eating, serving, and welcoming guests. This class comes to introduce them to some essential life skills which is reflected positively on the health and social status of their lives. The culinary class enables our dear students to learn innovative pictures of culinary arts in an atmosphere of real pleasure. Last but not least, the profession of culinary arts is taste, art and science.

Fine Arts course is one of the elective courses provided by SNC.  It’s an educational art program which deals with different aspects of fine arts, such as: drawing, painting, architecture, and interior and graphic design, etc…
It aims at introducing students to general information about schools of arts and famous artists during history, and at the same time it improves their skills in drawing, painting and using the basic technique to build the artwork. Besides that, this course has an important role in helping students build a balanced personality through refining their feelings and their sense of beauty in addition to their mental abilities, so that they become able to discover their talents and be creative.

Fashion Sketching is the Art of communicating Fashion idea in a visual form that originates with illustration.

A student learns the basic drawing of a model pose to understand body proportion, define his/her character poses, place the clothes, explore and find his/her own style.

Drama is a composition in verse or prose presenting a story in pantomime or dialogue. It contains conflict of characters, particularly the ones who perform in front of audience on the stage. The person who writes drama for stage directions is known as a “dramatist” or “playwright.”

Children like to move and interact with others. In drama, we ask them to do exactly this. Rather than sitting still and listening they are encouraged to move, speak and respond to one another. Students who are challenged by reading and writing (including those with English as a second language) often respond more positively to the imaginative and multi-sensory learning offered by drama. This in turn helps them develop such skills as creativity, enquiry, communication, empathy, self-confidence, cooperation, leadership and negotiation. Most importantly, drama activities are fun since they make learning both enjoyable and memorable.

Photography

Have you ever wondered what artistic medium your child might enjoy? Photography for students is an enriching and creative art form that can help create lasting and endless memories. Photography has always been a very popular skill that our students want to learn. Not only is it fun for students, but practicing and honing photography skills has some very unique benefits!

The exciting thing about today’s technology is that parents don’t need to invest a lot of money in getting started with photography for kids. Most smartphones and tablets already have what you need to begin learning and practicing photography skills. So, this course can help kids learn photography basics and know more about a device that is always in their hands.

Music

Music is arguably one of the most life-enriching academic subjects. It is a universal language that triggers emotional responses and kickstarts creativity. Because of all this, music is a fundamental pillar of arts education.

Music education is an important aspect of providing children with a well-rounded education. When allowed to work in harmony with other subjects and areas of study, music helps children grow self-esteem, build essential skills and prepare them for a brighter future.

Not only do we cater the needs of our primary and intermediate students, but we also offer the following elective courses to high school students in order to prepare them for college.

The AutoCAD elective course has been designed to provide senior students with a general overview about engineering and architecture. A section of the course includes the basics of technical drawing while the other focuses on the design elements and how it inspires our behavior.

Microsoft Excel
